Renowned horse coach Gai Waterhouse has shared her secrets and techniques to choosing successful horses, revealing that she appears to be like for athletes and never only a fairly look.
“First of all, you’re looking for an athlete,” Ms Waterhouse advised Sky News Australia.
“So I’m not worried about the walk because, as Dad used to say, I’m not buying a horse to win a walking race – you’re buying an athlete.
“When I go to the sale, there might have all sorts of different gates, but I’m looking for the horse that has that essence, that when she or he walks out, there’s just something that stays in your mind.
“So often, they become the rising stars or champions.”
