Port Adelaide’s teaching panel is trying to find solutions to on-field inconsistency which is cruelling the membership’s begin to the AFL season.
The Power, with a one-two win-loss file, have conceded 39 objectives in consecutive defeats to Collingwood and arch-rivals Adelaide.
But assistant coach Josh Carr says defensive frailties are only one space letting the Power down.
“You have got to be consistent in all phases of the game,” Carr stated on Monday.
“And that starts at the contest, you have got to be hard to score against defensively, and you have got to kick goals.
“There’s a component in every space that we’ve got obtained to enhance … I do not assume we will level the finger at one space.”
Carr stated there was “loads to unpack” from the 31-point loss to Adelaide when the Crows booted the last six goals.
“Everyone on the recreation might see that defensively all through the entire recreation we in all probability did not defend that properly as a workforce,” he stated.
“And then in essential moments inside the recreation, that is not simply the final quarter, proper by the sport we had lapses.
“It has got to be addressed and we have obviously got to be better – and that’s all areas of our game – to make sure that we close the gap between our consistent and inconsistent moments.”
But Carr warned in opposition to over-reacting forward of a visit to Sydney to satisfy the Swans on Saturday evening, saying head coach Ken Hinkley would take a measured method.
“Ken, he’s coaching well, he’s staying in the moment and looking to improve,” he stated.
“Every time we come in on a Monday, whether it’s win or lose, it’s how can we get better.
“I’m actually assured in us as a workforce that we’re pushing the suitable issues … we simply have not fairly nailed it with our consistency.
“But it’s round three. I am really confident we will get it right.”
