Injured Collingwood defender Jeremy Howe has suffered a setback in his restoration from a compound fracture, returning to hospital to deal with an an infection in his arm.
Howe had surgical procedure on March 18 to restore the fractured left forearm he injured the earlier evening in Collingwood’s season opener in opposition to Geelong.
He hung out in hospital this week and the extra remedy is prone to delay his return to enjoying – which the Magpies hadn’t put a time-frame on.
“Our main priority is Jeremy’s health and we will continue to support him as he recovers,” Collingwood soccer boss Graham Wright stated in a press release.
“The infection was picked up early by medical staff, and we don’t foresee any long-term issues.
“Despite the slight setback along with his restoration, in true Jeremy type, he’s in good spirits.”
Howe fractured his left forearm in a marking-contest collision with Geelong’s Tyson Stengle, which sent him flying in the air before landing heavily.
The 32-year-old was in agony after the third-term collision and play was held up for several minutes until he was stretchered off the field.
The Seven Network opted not to show replays of the incident.
The setback is a blow to Howe, 32, who had performed 24 video games final season after solely managing 12 appearances throughout 2020 and 2021 resulting from accidents.
