Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) chief David Thaddeus Alba has resigned from his submit, based on SRA board member Pablo Luis Azcona on Friday.
Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Azcona stated Alba’s resignation was mentioned in the course of the board assembly held final Monday.
“Kami sa board [we at the boardr], we were informed last Monday during our regular board meeting na he submitted his resignation due to health reasons,” stated Azcona.
“Hindi pa naman kami (Alba) nag-usap personally, pero ‘yun po ang alam ko [I haven’t talked yet with Alba personally but that’s what I know],” he added
Azcona, who represents planters in the board, also said he has no information on whether Alba’s resignation was accepted by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. He also noted that Alba still reported for work on March 22.
“Wala pa kaming information. What I only know, ‘yung sinabi samin, he submitted it already and it was received. Whether or not it is acted upon already, naaktuhan na, I don’t know kung naaksyunan na,” he stated.

Asked if the resignation is linked to the controversial importation of 400,000 metric tons of sugar, Azcona stated all he is heard is that Alba is having issues together with his blood stress.
