The operator of two of Queensland’s greatest casinos has pleaded responsible to unlawful practices after it allowed bank cards for use when shopping for playing chips.
Star Entertainment, which operates Brisbane’s Treasury Casino and the Star Gold Coast, pleaded responsible to seven costs below the Casino Control Act 1982.
Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman mentioned the fees associated to Section 66 of the Act which prohibits the acquisition of playing chips with a bank card.
“The Queensland Government is committed to ensuring Queensland casinos are operated lawfully, ethically and in a way that maintains the highest standards of integrity and public confidence,” Ms Fentiman mentioned.
The offences occurred between 2 June 2017 and 29 December 2018, and between 23 March 2022 and a pair of April 2022.
Sentencing is ready down for June 2.
