Residents who have been compelled to remain indoors throughout a 10-hour siege in Far North Queensland will probably be supplied counselling following the horrific ordeal.
The Queensland authorities introduced on Tuesday it was working with the Red Cross to ship counselling companies to Kirwan residents impacted by the siege on Sunday evening.
Queensland police locked down streets in Kirwan on the outskirts of Townsville after the person allegedly shot at police.
A 50-year-old man was discovered useless inside his dwelling after a 10-hour siege that compelled neighbours into lockdown.
Residents impacted could have entry to an outreach crew, with Ready Reserves supported by Red Cross counsellors from Tuesday.
The crew will conduct follow-up visits to neighbours.

Communities and Housing Minister Leeanne Enoch stated it was necessary individuals who wanted assist accessed these companies.
“This is another terrible incident that has impacted our state following the Wieambilla incident, Southport helicopter crash and on the back of recent bushfires and flooding,” she stated.
“We know that these types of incidents can be traumatic and distressing for neighbours and witnesses.
“It is important that anyone who is struggling has access to the help they need to support their recovery.
“Remember, help is available for anyone who needs it.
“My department is working with our non-government partners Red Cross and Lifeline to provide experienced counsellors and support staff for the people who have been impacted by this siege.”
Thuringowa MP Aaron Harper thanked the QPS for safeguarding the Kirwan group.
“I know there are many in the community that were left shocked by this incident, which is why having this support is so important,” he stated.
“It’s important support is available to those who need it after this traumatic event.”
