Guy Sebastian allegedly “towered over” his unwell neighbour with a brick when he stated his neighbour threatened to kill him in a fiery dispute over a shared fence.
Phillip Richard Hanslow is charged with escalating a long-running feud between the neighbours by confronting Mr Sebastian outdoors their Maroubra properties on January 23.
Police have been known as to the beachside suburb about 1.30pm for a dispute between neighbours that allegedly concerned threats.
Mr Hanslow beforehand informed reporters he was on the bathroom when police arrested him and charged him with stalking with intent to trigger bodily hurt and damaging property.
Sydney solicitor Bryan Wrench represented him in Waverley Local Court on Thursday after he beforehand appeared in courtroom with out a lawyer.
Mr Wrench informed the courtroom the costs had arisen out of a neighbourhood dispute over a fence.
“This is a matter where the dispute arose because Mr Hanslow was fixing his fence to match the look of Mr Sebastian’s house at the time,” he stated.
“We understand Mr Sebastian took offence to that.”
The courtroom was informed the fence has now been repaired to go well with the “concrete complex” look of Mr Sebastian’s multimillion-dollar house.
Mr Wrench stated the music star had been served with a subpoena for CCTV footage and any telephone digicam video associated to the alleged incident.
“It would show Mr Sebastian with a brick in his hand towering over my client,” he stated.
“That’s why we took the drastic step of serving Mr Sebastian.”
The courtroom was informed there was a “very helpful camera” positioned close to the place the dispute was alleged to have taken place.
Mr Wrench stated the dispute was unlikely to be resolved, however he hoped the CCTV footage would lead to a dismissal of the costs.
Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge adjourned the subpoena matter till March 23 to permit Mr Sebastian’s authorized staff to gather the footage.
“Good fences make good neighbours,” she quipped.
Mr Hanslow is restricted by an interim apprehended violence order taken out by police to guard Mr Sebastian.
Under the phrases of the courtroom order, the 66-year-old is prohibited from contacting the inaugural Australian Idol winner or getting into his property.
The 66-year-old can also be banned from possessing a firearm or unlawful weapon.
The courtroom was beforehand informed Mr Hanslow was scuffling with a myriad of well being points and required bowel surgical procedure.
Outside courtroom, he informed reporters he had spent “four hours on the operating table” to have a part of his bowel eliminated.
The alleged demise threats are believed to be the fiery fruits of six years of tensions between the neighbours that started in 2016 when Mr Sebastian and his spouse Jules have been constructing their house.
The couple purchased their $3.1m house in Maroubra in 2013 and spent almost three years overhauling it to create their “fortress-like” home.
