Speaker Martin Romualdez of Leyte on Wednesday put up a P500,000 reward for anybody who may present data that may result in the arrest of these behind the demise of Adamson University scholar John Matthew Salilig.
Salilig, a chemical engineering scholar, apparently died of fraternity hazing. His stays had been discovered buried. His stays had been later present in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite.
“The reward is to encourage individuals to come forward and coordinate with the authorities to help the arrest and prosecution
of the suspects or those who have the knowledge behind the death of Salilig. A loss of life is not
acceptable in a civilized society like ours,” Romualdez mentioned.
“Brothers do not kill brothers. Frat-related or
not, any crime that results to death deserves utmost condemnation,” Romualdez added.
The Speaker then said that the House of Representatives is committed to working
with concerned law enforcement agencies to ensure a safer and more secure environment for Filipinos.
“It is important that we take a proactive step to help our law enforcement agencies bring criminals to justice. Wala silang
pagpapahalaga sa buhay. Sa ospital nila dapat dinala ang biktima (They should have brought the victim to the hospital),” Romualdez said.
“Kung ako na hindi kamag-anak ng biktima ay hindi matanggap ang ganitong karumal-dumal na krimen, how much more ang kanyang mga magulang at pamilya?” Romualdez added.
