Police are on the hunt for about 700 sheep that have been allegedly stolen from a regional Victorian farm greater than three months in the past.
The 197 merino ewes with 493 purple ear tags and white Suffolk Merino Cross lambs with purple ear tags have been reported lacking from a Logan farm on February.
However, the sheep might have been lacking for greater than three months.
“The last count of the sheep was on the 21 October so the owners didn’t discover they were missing until the latest count,” a police spokesman instructed 3AW on Thursday.
The sheep are valued at round $139,000 and investigators are involved they could have been moved interstate.
The thriller has confounded police who’ve advised shifting such an enormous variety of sheep would have concerned loads of shifting components.
“It would have been quite a big endeavour to take that many sheep we believe it would have involved large trucks, dogs to round up all the sheep, fencing,” the spokesman mentioned.
“They were due to visit the shearers in the near future so they did have quite a lot of wool on them at the time.”
