Madonna hits back at ‘ageist’ critics after Grammys appearance
Madonna has spoken out in opposition to criticism of her look after presenting on the Grammy Awards this week.
In her newest Instagram publish, the multi-award-winning singer lamented being “caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny that permeates the world we live in,” after a close-up photograph of her face went viral on-line and sparked a torrent of detrimental feedback.

The picture was taken whereas Madonna was introducing Kim Petras and Sam Smith’s efficiency of “Unholy.”

Madonna referred to as it a “history making moment,” including: “Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim — many people chose to only talk about close-up photos of me taken with a long lens camera by a press photographer that would distort anyone’s face!”

Smith identifies as nonbinary, whereas Petras grew to become the world’s first overtly transgender girl to carry out on the occasion.

Madonna’s Instagram web page was flooded with feedback calling her scary, unrecognisable and denouncing her supposed “obsession with plastic surgery” — although the singer has by no means publicly addressed rumours of beauty enhancements.

The British tv host Piers Morgan, who is usually criticised for making sexist feedback, devoted a section to the viral photograph on his Talk TV present, “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

The 64-year-old musician hit again on the remarks, saying in her Instagram publish that the world “refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45.”

“I have never apologised for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start,” she wrote within the publish.

“I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come.”
