Parts of Austin had been lined in a sleet of ice on Wednesday (February 1) after Texas and elements of the U.S. South had been hit by a winter storm that introduced days of freezing rain and ice accumulation, inflicting widespread energy outages and dangerously slick roadways throughout the area.
