Former host of the Today Show Steve Liebmann says his protection of the 9/11 occasions was “very emotional” as his sister and her husband had been residing in Manhattan, New York on the time.
“I realised it was a big story and jumped in the car, went out to the Nine Network studios knowing all along my sister and her husband were in New York,” Mr Liebmann advised Sky News Australia.
He mentioned the workforce within the Today Show management room had been attempting to “track down” his sister on the time.
“Finally I got a message in my earpiece saying ‘we’ve got her’ and that was a huge, huge relief.
“You suddenly think life is very fragile – Port Arthur, 9/11, they’re the sorts of things you remember.”
