Exciting batter Phoebe Litchfield will make her Australian ODI debut towards Pakistan at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field.
The 19-year-old, who made her T20 worldwide debut final month in India, had her debut cap introduced to her by veteran Beth Mooney earlier than play on Monday.
Litchfield must look forward to her time on the crease after Australian captain Meg Lanning gained the toss and determined to discipline after play was delayed for quarter-hour resulting from gentle rain.
Lanning stated her resolution was prompted by “conditions, new wicket, a little bit of weather around maybe and just a good chance to get out there and start really well”.
Back after a five-month break from the Australian workforce, Lanning stated she was “really excited” to return to nationwide colors.
She stated Litchfield, who will open with Mooney, “thoroughly deserves her opportunity”.
“She has been dominating at domestic level, is a really exciting talent and can’t wait to see her do her thing,” she stated.
The final time Australia performed an ODI was within the World Cup remaining in Christchurch final 12 months when Alyssa Healey and Rachael Haynes opened the innings. Haynes has since retired and Healy is out of the collection with a calf damage.
