Police investigate after Dallas Zoo missing leopard is found
Dallas Zoo officers stated on Friday {that a} lacking clouded leopard was discovered after a day-long search.
Evidence was discovered that the fence of the small cat’s habitat had been “intentionally” lower, police stated.

The zoo tweeted that the cat named Nova, who weighs about 9/11 kilograms, didn’t seem injured and was discovered close to her authentic habitat. The search had closed Texas’ largest zoo to guests whereas workers and police combed the 40-hectare grounds.

The zoo introduced that Nova had been discovered simply moments after a news convention during which police stated a legal investigation had been opened.

Police and zoo officers stated they’ve reviewed surveillance footage however wouldn’t say what it confirmed or whether or not there have been potential suspects.

“It is our belief that this was an intentional act,” Dallas Police Sergeant Warren Mitchell stated.

Mitchell stated Dallas police at first dispatched SWAT officers to the zoo, not understanding the dimensions of a clouded leopard. Police drones helped search the zoo grounds, together with timber.

Harrison Edell, govt vp of animal care and conservation on the Dallas Zoo, stated clouded leopards prefer to climb.

The zoo tweeted earlier within the day that the lacking cat was a “critical scenario”, but officials said the animal posed no danger.

Another clouded leopard at the zoo, Nova’s sister, did not leave its habitat.

Animals have escaped enclosures from the Dallas Zoo earlier than. Most notably was in 2004, when a 154-kilogram gorilla named Jabari jumped over a wall and went on a 40-minute rampage that injured three individuals earlier than police shot and killed the animal.
