The Quezon City Police District arrested three scalpers who have been caught promoting overpriced tickets for the essential Game 6 of the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
According to a police report, the QCPD, together with the operatives of District Special Operations Unit, Quezon City Hall Detachment, and Quezon City-Anti-Cyber Crime Team performed an entrapment operation on Wednesday afternoon at Gateway, Cubao, Quezon City after the PBA sought help about scalping of tickets on-line.
In the entrapment operation, suspects recognized as Kenneth Peji (21 years outdated), John Limuel Dela Cruz, (20 years outdated); and a 17-year-old male have been arrested.
An undercover operative posed as a purchaser and bought 13 tickets for P13,000 after the QC-DACT performed cyber patrolling and was capable of transact with the suspects.
A complete of fifty tickets price P11,500 have been seized from the suspects through the operation.
The QCPD stated the suspects have been issued Ordinance Violation Receipts with fines amounting to P 5,000.00.
Quezon City has an Anti-Scalping Ordinance which defines scalping as “Unlawful selling/or buying of admission tickets outside the authorized official booth, outlet, or place designated for the purpose.”
QCPD director PBGEN Nicolas D Torre III referred to as on the general public to chorus from patronizing scalpers and reporting them to be charged accordingly.
