Cargo ship runs aground in Suez Canal

A cargo vessel has run aground in Egypt’s Suez Canal.

Canal service agency Leth Agencies stated the vessel, MV Glory, ran aground close to town of Qantara, within the Suez Canal province of Ismailia on Monday. The agency stated canal tugs have been attempting to refloat the vessel.

A spokesman for the Suez Canal Authority didn’t reply to calls searching for remark.

The Joint Coordination Centre listed the Glory as carrying greater than 65,000 tonnes of corn from Ukraine certain for China.

Satellite monitoring information confirmed the Glory in a single-lane stretch of the Suez Canal simply south of Port Said on the Mediterranean Sea.
