Madeline Gregory has been residing in her Marangaroo public dwelling for 4 years, which has ceilings coming down and constant plumbing issues along with the mould.
Gregory’s three kids, all underneath 10, additionally dwell within the dwelling and he or she’s desperately tried to get the Department of Communities to make repairs.
“It’s just not good enough and my daughters deserve better than that,” Gregory advised 9News.
“They deserve a good healthy bedroom to sleep in.”
“When you report these things, they refuse to fix it and then they refuse to even recognise that it’s here.”
The single mum mentioned the situations are so dangerous it has impacted her household’s well being.
Doctors agree along with her, with medical certificates stating: “Madeline and her family are always sick because their home is… full of black mould.
“Madeline and her kids have been unwell for a lot of weeks… please assist and take away the black mould,” the certificate said.
Gregory said she has tried to get the Department of Communities to replace her ceiling for months but her pleas went unanswered.
When 9News put Gregory’s claims to the Department of Communities, a spokesman said there was no evidence her ceilings were afflicted by mould but it would carry out some maintenance on the home.
Three days after an inquiry from 9News, contractors arrived to rip out parts of the ceiling and replace it.
The tradies told 9News it did appear mould was present.

The Department of Communities said it is not seeking alternative accommodation for Gregory and her family at this time.
