Emergency crews have been known as to Darien Avenue at Bombo Headland, roughly three kilometres north of Kiama about 3.30pm yesterday.
It’s understood the person could have fallen whereas making an attempt to take pictures.
Police with help from Surf Life Saving and NSW Ambulance later positioned and pulled the 41-year-old man from the water.
Despite the efforts of paramedics the person died on the scene.
A report might be ready for the coroner.
Bombo Headland is recognized for its distinctive rock formations and affords sweeping scenic views of the horizon.
The space is usually featured in tv commercials and picture shoots.
