The vigil for Lovell was held at Wellington Point close to Brisbane this morning, in addition to stroll of honour for victims to King Island.
Attendees had been pushing for “Emma’s Law” to be enacted by means of a petition, which has 100,000 signatures.
The petition desires the state’s Youth Justice Act to make breach of bail an offence, necessary minimal sentences and for bail to be denied for repeat offenders.
Two 17-year-old boys have each been charged with homicide, tried homicide and coming into a dwelling with intent in firm, after Lovell was allegedly stabbed to dying in her personal North Lakes residence.
The then 17-year-old was sentenced to 6 years in jail after the court docket heard he had been excessive and drunk when he killed the couple, whereas driving a stolen automotive.
Field’s mum Anne and her good friend Julie West, who began the petition, attended the protest and vigil.
“Anne is the grandmother of Miles that she never got to hold,” West advised Today.
“Her son was killed by a youth offender that was… on bail.”
West is pushing for Queenslanders to assist her trigger.
