Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has bristled at questioning over Max Gawn’s health insisting the Demons captain will prepare absolutely and be able to play in Friday’s semi-final showdown with Carlton.
Goodwin refused to verify Gawn has a damaged toe, as he stated Clayton Oliver (knee soreness) would even be superb to tackle the Blues.
The premiership coach would solely affirm Gawn and Oliver had been anticipated to coach absolutely on Tuesday after each sat out an earlier session following the qualifying remaining loss to Collingwood.
“I’m not going to give out our medical report,” he stated when requested about Gawn’s toe.
“I can confirm he’s going to train fully today. Both he and Clayton will train fully today and be available.
“I think every player is carrying certain things at certain times of the year, but it’s not going to slow either of these two down … they’ll train fully (on Tuesday) in preparation for the game.”
Goodwin stated concussed star Angus Brayshaw was “feeling a lot better” and “progressing well”, however the Demons would proceed to be cautious with him given his historical past of head knocks.
“(Brayshaw) is progressing well, clearly he’s in the protocols and there’s more checks that need to be done,” Goodwin stated.
“We certainly won’t take a risk with him as a player … there’s a big picture to think of here with Angus, and we’ve just got to make sure that everything is done properly, his health is paramount in this situation.”
