Retiring West Coast greats Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey and Nic Naitanui got a hair-raising serenade from 47,000 Eagles devoted as they drew the curtains on their illustrious careers on Saturday.
Not a single bum was left in a seat because the trio signed off for the ultimate time at Optus Stadium after the Eagles went right down to Adelaide.
For the second 12 months operating, the Crows lined up for a guard of honour as West Coast’s all-time main goalkicker Josh Kennedy and Liam Duggan chaired Shuey off.
Andrew Gaff and Andrew McGovern chaired the burly South Australian defender, whereas Jamaine Jones joked about carrying Naitanui, who declined provides.
“It’s been a great journey, and I’ve been fortunate to be at such a great club,” Hurn advised the followers post-match.
“West Australia is such a great place, and there are so many great players and great people at this club, and these are memories I will have forever.”
Shuey stated his last video games glided by in a blur however added his hamstrings would thank him later.
“It went quick,” he advised Fox Footy.
“I feel like, after the last few weeks, I’ve played this game over in my head a thousand times, so getting here tonight feels like you’ve been here already.
“(The fans) have been outstanding this year. It’s been tough; not a lot to jump and cheer about, but they always turned up in numbers.
“It’s been an honour to play in front of them.”
Naitanui stored his phrases quick and sharp.
“Thanks for coming out tonight and sticking with us through thick and thin,” he stated to the followers.
