Bathroom renovations at WACA stir up controversy

The choice to don’t have any urinals on the renovated Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) cricket floor in Perth has stirred up controversy amongst board members.

The $154 million renovation will embody a brand new grandstand and toilet amenities.

WACA board member Paul Collins says he was “stumped” by the choice to not embody urinals within the males’s loos.

“These toilets need to be efficient so that they can be functional and people can get in and out,” he stated.

WACA CEO Christina Matthews says the choice was made for each hygiene and inclusivity causes.

“It gives us great flexibility if we’re having all-female events or all-male events we can easily extend the toilets one way or the other,” she stated.

“I do hear there’s a lot of splashing and [it’s] not the most hygienic environment.”

The renovations are anticipated to be accomplished by 2025.
