Europe’s largest volcano, Sicily’s Mount Etna, has spewed lava and ash over the Mediterranean Island forcing the short-term closure of Catania Airport and the cancellation.
The city’s mayor has carried out restrictions on automobile use resulting from streets being lined in ash.
Italy’s National Civil Protection Agency has issued a pre-alert for areas surrounding the volcano.
