SYDNEY, Australia – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese mentioned he would journey to the Philippines in September to debate protection and safety cooperation, the primary Australian chief to go to in 20 years.
Albanese will meet President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on September 8 to debate strengthening cooperation on protection, maritime safety and growth, his workplace mentioned in a press release on Friday.
“Our partnership with the Philippines is built on close defense and security cooperation, increasing economic relations and warm personal ties,” Albanese mentioned.
The Philippines and Australia mentioned pursuing joint patrols within the South China Sea throughout a go to by Australia’s Defense Minister Richard Marles in February.
Albanese may also journey in September to the ASEAN-Australia Summit in Jakarta, and the G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi, the assertion added. — Reuters
