TV character Tony Armstrong says he gained’t cease “calling Australians racist” after his landmark Logies win.
The ABC presenter took to TikTook on Wednesday to reply to a remark calling out his previous remarks about racism.
“Now you have won a Logie, which is a popularity award, will you stop calling Australians racist now,” the remark acknowledged.
Holding his Logie, Armstrong responded: “Umm, no I won’t stop because some Australians are still racist.”
In the video, Armstrong turns to the digicam and smiles whereas clutching his Logie award.

His TikTook followers have been fast to again his stance, with one writing, “Don’t stop, Tony. Yours is a powerful voice that reminds us just how far we have to go”.
While one other wrote, ”on ya Tones … maintain combating the great combat”.
Armstrong obtained the inaugural Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter on the 2023 Logie Awards on Sunday.
Previously, he wrote on Twitter: “Fully respect the nominees, but a vote for me is a vote that will keep you on the right side of history.”
Armstrong, a former AFL participant, has hosted sport on ABC’s News Breakfast since 2021 after a stint on ABC Radio’s Grandstand program.
In 2022, the 33-year-old took residence the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent on the 2022 Logie Awards.
More lately, he has gained nationwide consideration as an outspoken critic of alleged racism within the news and media industries.
In November, Armstrong notified police a couple of racist e mail despatched to him after he referred to as out abuse and systemic racism.
“This sh*t has got to stop,” Armstrong wrote on Twitter.
“One thing is for certain though, this isn’t guna stop us speaking up or stepping up.
“Sent to my work email, no less.”
The e mail contained racist slurs and referred to Armstrong as a “filthy scum” and an “uneducated dog”.
The message seemed to be in response to feedback Armstrong made about billionaire Gina Rinehart.
